Delete your Donut account

You can delete your Donut account and the personal data attached to it at any time. Deletion is permanent — the account cannot be restored, and signing in again with the same phone number starts a brand new account.

Only want some of your data removed? You can keep your account and erase just the parts you want — some of it yourself, inside the app. Seedelete some of your data without closing your account.

Delete it from the app

  1. Open Donut and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  3. Read what will be erased and what we have to keep, then type DELETE to confirm.

Your data is erased as soon as you confirm. You do not need to email anyone.

Delete it without the app

If you can no longer sign in, email support@donutapp.in from your registered email address, or include your registered mobile number so we can identify the account. We respond within 30 days.

What gets erased

Deleted immediately, permanently

  • Your name, email address, phone numbers, date of birth, gender and saved addresses
  • Your UPI ID and bank account holder name
  • Your profile photo
  • Your wishlist, including every saved product and folder
  • Your browsing sessions and the shopping pages recorded against them
  • Your notification tokens, so we can no longer reach your devices
  • Your shopping assistant chats
  • Saved copies of your order pages that were captured to verify a reward
  • Personal details and screenshots attached to your support requests

One exception, and it works in your favour as often as not: we keep a one-way fingerprint of your mobile number and email address — a digest that cannot be reversed, read, or used to contact you. If you ever sign up again, it lets your reward history follow you, so a good record you built up is still yours. It also stops deletion being used to wipe a bad one and claim new-user rewards over and over.

What we have to keep, and why

Kept for 8 years, with your identity removed

  • Records of cashback we have already paid you — the amount, the date and the bank reference for the transfer
  • The orders those payouts were calculated from
  • Gift card purchases and their payment records

Indian law requires us to keep records of money we pay out and money we collect. We keep the transaction, not the person: these records are detached from your name, contact details and UPI ID, and are held against an anonymous, permanently closed account. They cannot be used to contact you or to identify you, and they are never used for marketing.

If you sign up again

You are welcome back any time — there is no waiting period, and the same mobile number works. It will be a new account: nothing from the old one is restored, and any reward standing you had built up carries over to it.

Rewards you have not been paid yet

Unpaid rewards are cancelled when you delete your account.

Cashback is paid to the UPI ID on your account, and deletion erases it, so anything still pending cannot be sent afterwards. The app shows you exactly how much is outstanding before you confirm. If you have a pending reward you still want, redeem it first and wait for the payout to land.

Delete some of your data without closing your account

You do not have to delete your Donut account to have data removed. Some of it you can erase yourself inside the Donut app, right now. Anything else, you can ask Donut to erase for you — either way your account stays open and you carry on using the app as normal.

Erase it yourself in the app

  1. Wishlist, browsing history and cookies. Open any shopping screen in Donut, tap the three-dot menu in the top corner, and use the clear options there. This removes the data from your account immediately — you do not need to contact anyone.
  2. Profile photo and saved addresses. Go to theProfile tab, tap Edit profile, and remove the photo or the addresses you no longer want stored. Saving the form erases them straight away.

Ask us to erase anything else

  1. Email support@donutapp.in from the email address registered on your Donut account. If you write from a different address, include your registered mobile number so we can identify the account.
  2. Use the subject line Data deletion request.
  3. Tell us which of the categories below you want erased — or write everything optional to have all of them erased.
  4. We confirm your request and complete the erasure within 30 days. Your account stays open and your login keeps working.

Data you can have erased this way

  • Your wishlist, including every saved product and folder in the app
  • Your browsing history, cookies and the shopping pages recorded against your sessions in the app
  • Your profile photo in the app
  • Your saved addresses in the app
  • Your shopping assistant chats by email
  • Your date of birth and gender by email
  • Your notification tokens, so we can no longer reach your devices by email
  • Personal details and screenshots attached to your past support requests by email
  • Saved copies of order pages for rewards that have already been paid out by email
  • Your UPI ID and bank account holder name by email

These are erased permanently and are not recoverable. Two of them have a consequence worth knowing before you ask: erasing your UPI ID means pending cashback cannot be paid until you add a new one, and erasing saved order pages for a reward we have not yet verified means that reward can no longer be checked and will be cancelled.

Data that has to stay while your account is open

  • Your mobile number and email address. These identify your account and sign you in, so they cannot be removed while the account exists. To erase them, delete the account using the steps at the top of this page.
  • Records of cashback already paid to you, the orders those payouts were calculated from, and gift card purchases. Indian law requires us to keep records of money we pay out and money we collect, so these are retained for 8 years from the transaction, whether or not you delete anything else. They are never used for marketing.

If you would rather remove everything, deleting your account erases all of the above except the 8-year financial records, and those are detached from your name, contact details and UPI ID first.
